Our thanks to the Lompoc Public Library for their collaboration on this mentorship!

SUMMER MENTORSHIPS

Multimedia Typewriter Poetry (Santa Barbara)

Mon/Wed/Fri, 12PM – 5PM
July 14th – 25th

In this South County mentorship, participants will use vintage typewriters to create poetry, collage, and other multimedia work such as assemblage. All participants will receive their very own typewriters to use and keep.

Mixed Media Monoprinting (Santa Maria)

Tues/Wed/Thur, 1PM – 4PM
June 24th – July 15th

This North County mentorship introduces the spontaneous and sometimes unpredictable monoprinting process that combines printmaking, painting, and collage into one-of-a-kind prints. Participants will learn the process of printing on a gel plate (a unique, flexible plastic surface) with fluid acrylics, creating layers of opacity and transparency.

Our thanks to the City of Santa Maria Recreation & Parks Department for their support of this mentorship!

Musical Theatre Vocal Studio (Santa Maria)

Tue/Wed/Thu, 1PM – 4PM
June 17th – July 9th

In this North County mentorship, students will be introduced to the technical and artistic process of learning a song as a soloist. Each participant will workshop two musical theater songs that are appropriate for their voices and the length of this program. This workshop will conclude with a live concert at 7PM on July 11th.

FALL MENTORSHIPS

Apply by September 1st!

Poetry & Creative Self-Expression (VIRTUAL)

Tuesday/Saturday, 4:30PM – 6:30PM
September 16th – November 4th

In this virtual mentorship, both new and experienced poets can develop their abilities for creative expression. Participants will read and discuss poems, and explore a variety of writing and artistic tools in their own writing: poetic forms, brainstorming, drafting & revision, and developing an individual style. They will learn about publication, poetry in public spaces, and art as a voice for activism.

Students anywhere in Santa Barbara County are eligible to apply to this mentorship.
